Clarkson Covered Bridge

Clarkson Bridge, spanning Crooked Creek in northwestern Cullman County, is one of the largest covered bridges in the state. It was built in 1904 and was originally known as Legg Bridge, after the previous owners of the land on which it was built. The bridge lies near the site of the 1863 Battle of Hog Mountain, during which Confederate general Nathan Bedford Forrest defeated Union colonel Abel Streight.
