The Chambers County Courthouse in LaFayette was built in 1899 and is part of the Chambers County Courthouse Square Historic District, which was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. This district includes 45 contributing properties. The clock in the courthouse dome originally was housed in the first permanent county courthouse, built in 1836.
