Child Textile Mill Workers in Mobile

Child laborers at Barker Cotton Mill in Mobile in 1914. Edgar Gardner Murphy promoted education as a solution to the South's racial and child labor issues in the early twentieth century. He joined the Southern Education Board in 1903 and worked to increase educational support.
